This bear is made exclusive for the Netherlands in 2003.
Herring is a fish that Dutch people eat raw with onions.
Dutch fishermen catch this herring in the seas around Norway, Denmark, and Scotland.
The herring will be salted and stored in a barrel.
In June the 1st barrel of the season will be auctioned and the proceeds go to a good cause.
This bear is made out of white curly mohair and is holding a barrel in his right arm and a herring in his left hand. He is wearing a red, white and blue ribbon, the traditional colours of the Netherlands, around his neck. On his right foot is embroidered: Holland 2003
This is a limited edition of 1.500 pieces.
